San Diego Sunsets

San Diego has a certain grey charm to it, and some stunning sunsets.

New Video

Just put my new surf video up on Vimeo. I still use Youtube too, but I'm starting to really really love Vimeo. I feel like it's a higher quality, both for uploads and also other users content. What's your thoughts and preferences people, Vimeo or Youtube???

The 80's Never Left.

"Armpit of the United States" was how my friend described Venice Beach in Los Angeles, California. It may smell a bit like armpits, but on a whole I would have to disagree with this statement.

I believe I have found THE best people watching place in the world. Think a crazy coastal strip, overflowing with a crowded mix pot of tourists, homeless people and eccentric locals. A land where chaotic music blares, oiled muscles and thongs are the dress code, and pit bulls, street vendors and greasy food rule. And the best part is, everyone still uses rollerblades!

I tried to take pictures but it just couldn't do it justice.

Empty Barrels

I know, it's taken me a long time to make a new clip. I've been running all over with my new camera and I've reached footage overload, so it was time to sit down and do some editing. Here it is.... a little film made just for the love of EMPTY BARRELS.

Southern Loving

South winds. They are a rarity here in the winter and a welcome break from the trades. The past few days have seen the South looking like an angry rain soaked creature, but the North has blessed us with beautiful swell and strong offshores. The other day I surfed for 8 hours practically alone. By the time I paddled in I had such bad noodle arms, I almost couldn’t make it to the beach. Yesterday I opted for my camera instead.

It's bigger than it looks.

Full Moon Missions

Island Perfection.

I'm salty, tired and sunburnt. A cold shower never felt so good. My girlfriend is visiting from Oahu and we've just returned from a crazy 3 day full moon camping mission, involving midnight kayaking to waterfalls, bonfire shenanigans and some of the most perfectly roping beach breaks I have ever witnessed.I could write pages on our adventures, but in this case a picture speaks a thousand words.

Welcome to island life.

We made it about a mile before breaking down.
Who rides in the back of your truck?
Full moon rising
The morning after. What YOU looking at?
Empty barrel anyone?

Because everybody needs a pet goat.

We lost the keys. Hotwire attempt no. 1

Quiet Times

Island life is hard work, as you can clearly see.

Today I surfed the West side. Fun waves, beautiful conditions but sorry folks, no pics. After a few hours in the surf and a post surfing taco I went to visit my friend. A trail behind her house leads to the most perfect swimming hole with two beautiful little water falls.

It was super quiet and peaceful.... until these guys arrived.

Invasion.
Just another day on the island :)
